EdgeDiveTech has done it again with the release of their newest product. They have successfully built a fully functioning magnetometer into a housing small enough to be mounted on any ROV in the world. Its unique software allows it to ignore all the metal surrounding it, and focus only on detecting metal beneath the housing. Its detection range consists of a 60-degree cone extending vertically down from the unit. The range is calibrated with a 2lb piece of steel at a distance of 2 meters. This enables the detection of ferrous metals, such as weapons, piping, anchors, and any other ferrous (magnetic) metal, at distances up to 10 meters through sediment. The system takes power from the ROV’s accessory port and the arm is machined to slide into the manipulator clamp. This translates to zero customization of your ROV. There is a large blue LED on the top of the housing that provides visual feedback, as well as serial output for topside interface. When ordering you simply specify which ROV you will be using it on, and we source the proper cable from the manufacturer. We then machine the mounting arm to the proper size for your manipulator clamp.
